Who is eligible to attend Newark Prep?

Newark, Irvington, and East Orange students who are in grade 9th,10th, 11th and 12th, for the 2016–2017 school year and who can also attend class five days a week at the school site are eligible to attend. Students who are in 8th grade for the 2016 school year graduating into the 9th grade for the 2017-2018 school year.

*Students who live outside of Newark, NJ would only be considered for Round Two if a seat is available. Newark students will have preference over all non-Newark students.

What does it cost to attend Newark Prep?

Since Newark Prep is a public charter school, there is no tuition. We provide New Jersey-certified teachers and all instructional materials for the program. Transportation costs to and from the school can be provided by sending districts if student/family meets the requirements stipulated by the district, if student/family does not qualify for transportation assistance, transportation is to and from the school is the responsibility of the student and family.

What is the attendance policy?

Newark Prep works with families toward a positive attendance record to meet the required number of instructional minutes and days per year. Attendance at the school site five full days a week is a mandatory component of our program.

Can I take a vacation during the school year?

The school calendar includes school "holidays" or vacation time. Whenever possible, personal vacations should align with school vacation days.

What if I want my student to attend Newark Prep next year?

If you want your student to continue to attend Newark Prep, please be sure that your student complete and turn in the Re-Registration form to Mrs. Velazquez at the main office or complete and turn in your form via the online link that will be sent to you by the deadline.
